UPPER CROSS SYNDROME SEQUENCE / ROUNDED SHOULDERS 🤑🤑🤑
Upper cross syndrome is easily identified and commonly seen in many people. Simply, the shoulders are rolled forward, shortening the chest and lengthening the upper back. This posture inhibits breathing, places added stress on the neck and increases the risk of shoulder joint problems. 1. PULL APART - this exercise strengthen the entire back arm line (wrist extensors, Triceps, Posterior Deltoids, Rotator cuffs, mid and lower Trapezius, & Rhomboids) simultaneously opening the front arm line ( wrist flexors, Biceps, Coracoid brachialis, Pectoralis major & minor) 2. STANDING ROW - This exercise strengthens the mid Trapezius and Posterior Deltoids. Due to the shoulders being pulled forwards, the fibres the Trapezius and Posterior Deltoids have become lengthened. By targeting these muscles we pull the humerus and scapular back towards a better alignment, also adding length to the Pectoralis major. 3. Y RAISE - perhaps the most important exercise of the bunch. This exercise targets the lower trapezius. The lower trapezius attaches the spine to the scapular and is responsible for pulling the scapular back and down towards the spine. To strengthen this muscle also stretches the Pectoralis minor, opening up the chest allowing room to breath. Move slowly through each exercise and pause for 2-4 seconds at the top of each. STRETCHING, DO IT LAZY STYLE!! For your body to respond to static stretching you should be comfortable and relaxed. Holding tension whilst stretching keeps the nervous system is a sympathetic state (FIGHT). To see and feel a difference, focus on slow breathing and releasing tension on the exhale! Using a resistance band to create the pull allows you to relaxed and gain increased range of motion through the joint. When I was little I loved to sew and do all things crafty with my hands, hence this guy sitting on the street corner caught my eye. I Love the old-fashioned sewing machine and also noted that because it's peddle powered, it involves foot and ankle mobility, as well as hand-eye cordination! Who said modern technology was better?

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation ( PNF ) requires active contractions of the targeted muscle through out the stretch to allow the tissues to open up and allow a new length. To complete this flexibility technique place the band around the ankle and attach it to a pole.
