Abbie got in touch with us about her gorgeous 10 month old son Oscar.
“Oscar was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy at 4 months old. For the first few months he was stable at home on medication and honestly it was hard to believe anything was wrong with him!
Then about 6 weeks ago things went from bad to worse. After a couple of hospital admissions and a lot of tests we were told Oscars heart was deteriorating drastically and that his only chance was a heart transplant.
Words cannot describe how painful it was seeing our baby boy so poorly.
Oscar was put on stronger medication and we were transferred to Great Ormond Street for a transplant assessment. THANKFULLY, after a week or so of being on these stronger meds our baby started responding well and slowly began to get his strength back.
For now we are back home with our family, but we are very aware these downwards turns can happen so quickly at any time. There is a very strong chance Oscar will need a heart transplant some day.
No one deserves to go through the kind of pain Oscar has, especially at such a young age.
Before Oscar was diagnosed I never thought about organ donation much and was not on the register. Now I am SO passionate about it, and will keep trying to raise awareness forever.” #ShareYourWishes about your organ donation decision. #yesidonate #organdonorssavelives #organdonation
