• MARIONBERRY PIE ICE CREAM 🍦 🍇•
Ice cream always makes things better, so I figured you might need (to stare at) this for Monday 😆 My coworkers and multiple friends have all recommended that no matter how much or how little I ate at the Tillamook Creamery, I had to get the marionberry flavored ice cream. Never one to back away from food, I got a scoop of the marionberry pie ice cream after a massive meal at the Tillamook Creamery.
First off, what IS a marionberry? Believe it or not, marionberries are the result of a plant breeding collaboration between the USDA Agricultural Research Service and Oregon State University. They’re a cross breed between 2 different types of blackberries, which resulted in a tart but sweet berry that dominates the Oregon berry market. Marionberries are not too common elsewhere in the US because they tend to be too soft to ship elsewhere, but if you’re in Oregon, you can definitely get your fill of these delicious berries in all different food items, as well as just fresh from the farmers’ markets. While the fresh stuff is great, I like more creamy desserts so here we are with the marionberry pie ice cream 😁
Fun tidbit—Tillamook is one of the few ice cream producers that make their ice cream with primarily whole milk, cream (the first ingredient!!), and eggs. I know because I eat a lot of ice cream (a LOT) and read a lot of ingredients labels. Get outta here with that nonfat milk, other ice cream producers! Gimme dat Tillamook 😋🍦
