2 of my favorite mobility movements...These particularly help open up the hips. A must-do especially if you sit a lot. I don't sit a lot but I still do these. The first one, I think, is called "stir the pot". Watching myself, I need to focus more on keeping my foot planted & still. But work up to them...if the squat one is challenging, just simply focus on first getting to a low sitting squat before adding in the movement...Let me know if you try them! Multi task whilst working out! A simple pull to face mainly strengthens the mid back but by adding a backward lunge to the movement creates a nice dynamic stretch to the hip flexors. Here's a fun one to add to your warm up or joint prep: Inchworms with a reach and a row.
#
You get some shoulder movement, hip hingeing, hamstring activation, and lots of core stabilization to get the body ready to work--it's one of the warm up drills we've been using in class as prep work for our daily perfect push up practice.
#
This inchworm variation can be a great 'just get a little less stiff' exercise or as another part of a core training progression by adding reps to the reaches and rows.
