No disrespect to cardio; in fact, in the FASTer Way to Fat Loss®, we implement cardio, but if you want to blast fat and get in shape, you need to add some strength training to you regimen.

Here’s why:
1) Lifting weights can increase your lean body mass, which increases the number of overall calories you burn during the day, meaning you burn fat ALL DAY LONG.

2) You may burn more calories in a cardio sweat sesh, but if you’re lifting, you continue burning calories long after the session ends.
.
3) Your muscle mass largely determines your resting metabolic rate—how many calories you burn by just living and breathing.

4) The more muscle you have, the more energy your body expends.

5) Lifting heavy weights over time not only maintains bone mass but can even build new bone, especially in the high-risk group of post-menopausal women.

6) Many people hit the cardio hard when they want to lose weight or maintain; however, endurance training can reduce fat and muscle tissue, which equals loss of shape and curves. Strength training creates and sustains curves.

Shoulder day! What’s your favorite muscle group to train?

7:00 am on a freaking Saturday and morning meditation, reading and workout are already DONE and now it's time to dig into my inbox and WERK until my family is up and then it's packing and off to Seattle to meet the cruise ship to Alaska 💋

Here's the deal, getting up early is HARD. Working out is HARD. Eating clean in a world full of shitty / fast/ cheap food is HARD. Choosing to love yourself in a world that trys to tell you at every turn that your NOT GOOD ENOUGH, is HARD. But being unhealthy, unhappy, having no energy, sleeping in, being less productive, having aches, pains, headaches, low self esteem, not being the best mom/ wife / human you can be because your choices suck is HARDER.
.
At some point you have to get over the bs stories 💩 you keep telling yourself and just choose a DIFFERENT hard. One that fills you up, serves you, and makes you better daily. Let's not sit here and pretend you're still skeptical, can't afford it, or don't have time. Those are just excuses you use to protect yourself from the TRUTH.

You CAN make a change, you just don't want to, you don't think you're worthy, you don't love yourself enough - yet 😬

Yeah it stings a little and the peace maker in me has a really freaking hard time even SAYING this out loud but I've been getting a HUGE FREAKING SIGN that I'm doing nobody any good by NOT saying the hard words and NOT holding others to the same high standards I set for myself.

Are You Putting Yourself Out There⁣

Lots of people ask me how do I start attracting clients for my online coaching business. And usually I ask “well what are you doing currently”?⁣

Sometimes they might be posting workouts, or trying to grow their social media, but you know what they are holding back on?⁣

Their bio doesn’t say “Online Coach”. They literally don’t even mention in videos or captions that they’re taking on clients!!⁣

Now here’s the thing. Getting a full-time clientele does often take more than putting yourself out there!⁣

BUT you can only get started if you do! So take that first step, be vulnerable, and get yourself out and known.⁣

Often we don’t because we have fears! What will my family or friends think, am I really ready for this, and what will people think!!⁣

Those are the wrong questions friend. The right questions are who will be impacted by my story, whose life will I change, and who am I becoming by getting over these fears!⁣

Repost @sam_xceedfit 🍪So there’s two issues I find with this very common statement (sometimes it’s said as a joke, I get that). Firstly, the idea of having to start on a Monday shows the stop/start attitude that most people have. Health and fitness isn’t just an on and off switch. It’s a lot more complicated than that and requires a lot more effort, dedication and persistence .

🕰It also shows the attitude of waiting for the perfect time to start (start again, normally). There will NEVER be a perfect time. Just do it already. Start with small steps and build upon them over time. That’s the only way to succeed
.
.
🍔The second thing this sentence shows me is a lack of seriousness to the cause. Planning how to start your health and fitness journey requires some know how and preparation, whether that’s by yourself or with the help of a coach. You don’t just proclaim that ‘diet starts Monday,’ just like you don’t just stand up and say ‘I’m going to drive in the F1 tomorrow!’ Not that simple .
.
🤔So yes, I get that this is said light heartily a lot of the time, but let’s be honest, losing body fat, changing your life and formulating new habits isn’t really a laughing matter. If you were that serious about it why not start on a Saturday? Or even better, how about right now?! 🙄
