*Onitama* Designer: Shimpei Sato [ @arcanewonders ] 2 players
It's always so grand when you can explain how to play a game in less than two minutes. When a game is as streamlined and as elegant as Onitama, it just feels good. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In Onitama you can win in one of two ways: Take out the other player's Master or get your own Master to the other player's throne. This is done by using the two movement cards placed in front of you that shows which moves you can take. Choose one, move, replace that movement card with the one sitting outside the board and it's onto your opponent's turn.
Each game has only five movements to choose from, but these are chosen randomly at the beginning from a larger pile of cards (even larger pile with the cards from the expansion). This makes for great replay-ability.
With Chess-like strategy and the ease of a calm morning, Onitama is a lovely and beautiful strategy game that will be played for years to come.
