Laid up in bed tonight with pretty bad pain in my Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ - pictured in red) and lower jaw. Cant take any more pain killers, applying heat and have mobilised the joint as best I can using KCR (kinetic chain release) mobilisation.
The body remembers pain (physical and emotional), tension and injury. Ive had a couple of bad knocks to the jaw during my tae kwon do days which resulted in swelling to my TMJ and during stressful and emotional times I clench my jaw. Both key candidates for a possible cause.
A couple weeks ago I had a fascia release in the same area and the pain was unreal. Having done a lot of energy/emotional release work recently it was a sign that my body was beginning to release years tension and it would appear to still be doing just that!
The body is an amazing complex thing and is way more than just its physical functions. Once you begin to understand the effects of emotion on the body and fascia, you can alleviate many 'physical' complaints by understanding their route cause.
For now though, time to sleep and hope the pain eases overnight. Goodnight, wherever in the world you are! 💋
