When I was in high school I hated running. If you would have told me that I’d be 23 with 6 half marathons and 1 full marathon under my belt I would not have believed you at all. I avoided running at all costs and never thought I’d pick up running shoes again after quitting the track team in 9th grade.
Yet here I am, training my heart out for a race. I won’t win any prize money, I’m not sponsored by any companies, I just do it because I love it. One day things just clicked on a run and I fell in love with running. I feel like I have become such a better person physically AND mentally because of running.
Some days it’s challenging, some days I feel like I’m running on clouds. But no matter what, I found a passion for something and I can continue to grow in the sport. Whether or not I reach my goal at my next race, I’ll always have something to work towards and that makes me really happy.
