Virtuoso VIII – harmony of the shapes
A teardrop, a dot, a circle, a square, a triangle, even some curls! Besides being the sum of 195 years of watchmaking expertises, Virtuoso VIII is also the sum of different shapes, smartly designed and combined with technical requirements.
Reliability, chronometry, decorative arts. Design puts all these features together, for a consistent timepiece. To achieve this, the shapes of the Virtuoso VIII are pretty daring! First, the sub dials have unusual shapes: one like a vast teardrop, which surrounds and embraces the other. They are supported by gold rims and pillars, creating almost a colossal impression in their miniature way. Then the Virtuoso VIII’s case is asymmetrical. Like a lectern, the face of the watch leans towards the eye, literally. This very special shape helps put the dial information more upright, closer to a natural reading position. And there are all these other shapes, subtly enhancing technique. Like the arrow of the seconds on the round tourbillon cage. Or the sphere of the tourbillon itself. Or the arches of its perfectly polished bridges. Then, at 5 o’clock, a transmission wheel shaped like a star. And finally, for purely decorative purposes, the curls of the Fleurisanne engravings or the chiseling of the main plate.
