When you think of fiber you may think it's just that stuff that help with going to the bathroom. Yes, fiber aids in bowel regularity, but it actually does a lot more.

Dietary fiber is a non-digestible carbohydrate found in many fruits, vegetables, and grains. It's divided into two categories based on its solubility in water: soluble fiber and insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber swells in the presence of water while insoluble fiber does not.

I often highlight soluble fiber because it's the fiber that can help with weight reduction as it causes you to feel fuller for longer.

Many people think all fiber can't be digested by the body however, certain studies suggest otherwise. While we don't possess the enzymes to digest most fiber, prebiotics, a form of soluble fiber, actually feeds our microbiota (good bacteria) and provides 1.5 calories for every gram of fiber.

You need a minimum of 25 grams of fiber each day. (1 cup of raspberries has 8 grams of fiber! )To easily achieve the adequate amount of dietary fiber, focus on eating a variety of whole foods every day. 🥦🍓🥖

When the weekend is approaching I like to make some healthy guilt free treats that the whole family will enjoy and these easy to make granola bars are on top of everybodies list. I love making these as they require no baking, are made within 15 minutes and don’t require fancy ingredients that you have to specially go out for and get. Most ingredients you will find, you have already in your cupboard or if you do find yourself not having one ingredients you can always exchange it for another one. These granola bar treats also only contain natural sugars and are not loaded up with high fructose sugars that can often be found in ‘healthy type’ granola bars that you can buy in the shops. Pretty glad my back seems to be coming back to normal now. Managed some squats for the first time in a few weeks yesterday and worked up to 115kg for 2 sets of 4 with no back pain at all, and it's feeling good today so there doesn't seem to be any after effects. Still sticking with this high rep and set training style for a whole though, been enjoying it! But I'll give it a few weeks before I reintegrate deadlifts but as a start. Pretty good

this week, I’m focusing on positivity. as a nursing student, I am pretty much constantly dragging myself from one thing to the next (clinical > class > studying), yet I tend to do this with a begrudging mindset. i’ve been meditating on the idea of shifting my mindset to look at these things on my to do list as opportunities instead of chores (easier said than done, I know). it doesn’t change how much I have to do, how stressed I am, or how tired I feel by the end of the week. but it does make me a happier person and it helps center me so I can really live in the present moment.

Perfect hearty breakfast on the go or to enjoy at home. I add water to the oats and cook for about a minute and a half to 2 minutes in the microwave
1/3 cup of rolled oats
2/3 cup water
1/2 cup blueberries
1/4 cup sliced almonds
1 tablespoon honey .
Oats and blueberries are both rich in antioxidants, and fiber. This breakfast will satisfy your hunger and energy without a sense of crashing. .

Why was today so special for me?
My Big Brother got married. He tied the knot with one of the most amazing women ever, someone who I can’t believe I’m so lucky to have in our lives & now officially technically be my true sister (in-law) 💍
Such a special day, but simple & filled with love, care, happiness & family.
I was their bridesmaid, by their sides the whole time. There were smiles, laughs, happy tears, amazing food, confetti & cake. Of course plenty of pics too. A magical day at one of the best castles & gardens 🏰💐
We are all tired, but I can’t be more happy & proud of my brother. I wish him & his lovely wife the most beautiful & eternal life together & the most fab journey in this new stage in life they embark on - they are a true match made in heaven.
A few months ago I didn’t know if i’d ever get to see a beautiful day like this. I’m glad I got the chance 🌈✨
