If shopping is your thing, Shinsegae Centum City would be your heaven for days. It’s a mammoth ten storey department store that sells all kinds of things, ranging from clothes, electronics, and luxury items. It also has a large movie theatre, food court, floor of restaurants, and even a Spa Land. In 2009, the Guiness Book of World Records designated Shinsegae as the biggest department store in the world. I’m sure it’s since been surpassed by another mega mall, but the structure is mighty impressive. I don’t really care for the shopping but I definitely care about the restaurants. Another must eat item for me in Korea is samgyetang, which is ginseng chicken soup. There’s a great restaurant on the ninth floor that makes this really well and now I’ve had it twice. This hot steaming delicious dish features a small chicken stuffed with rice, ginseng, garlic, enoki mushrooms, and jujube(Korean date) This time I added some abalone, and with that fall off the bone chicken, every bite was a hearty flavor explosion. I wish I could find a place in Japan that made this well or maybe it’s best left for that visit once every two or three years when my craving is way overdue.
