For every time you turned the electric blanket on so that it was warm when I got into bed.
For every time you woke me up softly, and told me ‘breakfast is ready’. For all the mint slices, mars bars and strawberries with sugar on top.
For all the take away dinners and cream caramels for desert.
That time when you took me with you to work and taught me how to pull up tiles.
That time when you built my artwork bases.
The un-countable lessons you taught me about how to use tools properly.
For each time you took me to swimming lessons, and came to athletics days.
For each time you drove me to school, and picked me up again.
For the times went spent at the bush-house chasing lizards.
For the times went spent at St Leonard’s chasing fish.
For every time you took me in and made me feel safe.
For the support you gave me when Mum and Dad broke up.
For the unconditional love,
And for believing in me always, even when I didn’t.
For that time when my brothers and I gave each other bowl cuts and cut open all the bean bags after Pa feel asleep whilst baby-sitting us, I’m sorry.
For everything else, I’m overwhelmingly grateful. You’ve pulled me through some of my hardest days and were always there when I needed you - I know you’ll always be there for me. Words simply cannot describe what your love means to me. I have faith in knowing that my actions speak louder than words and I promise to live a life that makes you proud.
You are in my thoughts always, and I’m sending you my love from across the country.
This is ‘That Time When…’ a thank you for your eternal love and support.
Jan and Eddie, my Nana and Pa, I love you.
