“People cannot have role models they cannot see.”
Last night, @wwenxt celebrated International Women’s Day with an all female meet and greet& two women’s matches, but also showcased all the different roles women have within the realm of sports entertainment and professional wrestling: competitor, manager, referee, team player, & the occasional troublemaker. When people ask my why I loved the Mae Young Classic so incredibly much, I tell them that I would have done anything to have role models like the women in that competition and in the WWE. Different shapes, sizes, nationalities, personalities, styles, backgrounds... every single one beautiful and unique. I envy the young women growing up in this new era where strong is beautiful— smart is powerful— and different is incredible.
These women are doing something I cannot, but I am so thankful that they are. They give me hope that I can still chase my dreams, and be unapologetically daring in the pursuit of them. I wish each and every single one of them success, and NO, I will not apologize for being one of their biggest cheerleaders, one of their greatest protectors, & one of their most passionate advocates. You ask me why I watch women’s wrestling— because it drives me to be a better person. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Ladies.
