First product: Nuxe Creme Fraîche de Beauté 48HR Moisture Skin-Quenching Serum*
$45 CAD for 30ml/1oz
A thin, runny serum with an easily spread-able texture that leaves a lightly hydrated feel on the skin. Contains hyaluronic acid, among other ingredients that overlap with other products from the line including allantoin and macadamia oil. This is pleasant to use and lays well under makeup, but I am not “wowed” by it. I get similar results from my Hydraluron jelly, and this serum doesn’t necessarily provide better hydration than any other item from the range. This line offers similar results in different textures which is great for those of us who either prefer richer creams or thinner layers of serums, but for my personal preferences I’d sooner recommend and purchase one of the face creams over this. The serum is nice, but I just want more potency from it than I’d get from a standard moisturizer, and this simply feels to me like a runny version of the face creams in a smaller size.
Second Product: 48HR Moisture Mattifying Fluid*
$39 CAD for 50ml/1.6oz
This is something I’m truly surprised by and impressed with! A dense cream “enriched with rice powder” and gives a matte appearance to the skin. I have never had success with mattifying primers in the past - they’ve been counterproductive and in fact have left me extremely oily! This was a pleasant surprise. It takes on a slightly thick quality and starts to set as I gently rub it on my T-zone, but doesn’t at all leave me chalky, pasty, or dry. My skin feels “sealed” and smooth. This has helped my makeup to last significantly longer than without it on days where I am out for almost 12 hours. My skin feels less greasy throughout the day, and will be incredibly useful during the hot summer months coming up. I would absolutely purchase this myself before even considering purchasing an actual mattifying primer, and would recommend it to fellow oily skinned people who have not had luck with traditional primers. The fact that it is not even marketed as a makeup primer to me means that it would still have good oil control capabilities for those of you who don’t wear makeup.
