Recipe⠀
Ingredients:⠀
120 g dates⠀
80 g hazelnuts roasted⠀
60 g oats⠀
40 g ground hazelnuts ⠀
40 g almond butter ⠀
30 g cacao ⠀
2 tbsp almond milk⠀
pinch of salt⠀
Coating:⠀
100 g dark chocolate ⠀
1 tsp coconut oil⠀
Preparation:
Soak dates in hot water for 15 minutes, drain afterwards. Blend oats into flour. Put everything except the roasted hazelnuts into the food processor and mix well. Divide the dough into 15 pieces, place a hazelnut in the middle and roll into balls. Put into the freezer for 30 minutes. Melt the chocolate with coconut oil, add some ground hazelnuts. Glaze the truffles and chill for one hour. Enjoy!

If there’s one thing that frustrates me more than anything about the fitness industry, it’s the amount of supplements and quick fix approaches that are being peddled, especially when done in a way that makes people believe they must be using them to get results.

My disdain for this foolery is likely due to the fact that I was the victim of such conditioning for years, likely spending upwards of thousands of dollars on supplements as a result. BCAA’s for my fasted morning cardio, pre workout drinks before I lifted, recovery shakes immediately after, and fat burners for the times when I just had to get that last little bit of cellulite off my thighs. And you know wha all that nonsense got me? Nothing more than a dwindling bank account but certainly not better results.

Here’s the thing that no one wants to accept because it seems too simple: The basics work. And you can make incredible progress without restricting yourself to meals of only green juice, or spending top dollar on a bunch of supplements that are likely doing very little for you. Not to mention, have you seen the ingredients on some of these products? They are often loaded with artificial sweeteners and colors and more caffeine than anyone could possibly need in a day (especially if you’re consuming caffeine at other times as well). #
I promise you can reach whatever your goal might be by sticking to a simple approach with minimal, if any supplements, and certainly without undergoing a detox or cleanse.

The only ones I’ve seen make a legitimate difference is a protein powder if you have trouble eating enough from whole foods and creatine. Others that may be of benefit are magnesium and Vitamin D as most people are deficient in those.

i lovelovelove my work. i wake every day feeling grateful and excited to do what i do. i typically work every single day, including weekends. i often don’t leave “the @masteringdiabetes office” (aka robby’s apartment) until 9pm to head back home. i create my own schedule and hours, but i choose with free will to spend time on these things because i am so passionate and feel such a strong sense of purpose in this work.

but loving my work doesn’t make me exempt from getting burnt out. for the past week or two, i have been trying to make sure that even when i work long hours, i don’t skimp on self-care. long morning runs, evening reading/journaling, dancing around my kitchen while i cook, social gatherings and calling friends/family, and meditation help to keep me centered and full of energy to show up as my best self in all that i do.

everyone’s balance looks different, and is in constant flux. this is mine right now. i hope it inspires you to take a moment to think about whether you feel balanced, centered, and energized in your life. and if not, how can you make some shifts to cultivate that? 😘❤️

Idk what my hand is doing😂🤦🏻‍♀️ just go with it, but trained legs(quad focused)& squatted tonight. I'm going to need a wheelchair mañana🙃Only went up to 245lbs for 4 sets of 6 reps each & pyramided down to 225lbs( 8 reps), 185lbs( 10 reps) & 135lbs( 12 reps for a burn out), leg pressed(did 6 plates on each side rather than my 7 plates)- superset with Bulgarian split squats(used a 40ld DB), hip thrusted (315lbs on smith machine)- 4 sets& 12 reps each & then to end my workout, I did accessory exercises for quads & some abs & calves!
