I recently island-hopped to beautiful Kauai to work a nightshift in a rural hospital (the same hospital @bethanyhamilton was taken to post shark attack)! It felt so futuristic to fly to work and the views were breathtaking! As we made our initial descent, a wave of emotions flooded through my body. I was both excited and nervous to work in a new and unfamiliar hospital. I immediately started making a mental checklist of things I needed to l locate as soon as I arrived on the unit:

I wondered who my coworkers would be throughout the night and played out 'what if' scenarios in my head anticipating a trauma rolling through the door at 2AM. With butterflies in my stomach, I calmly navigated my way to the unit and was greeted by a group of friendly staff. It was going to be a great night! I dug out my stethoscope and penlight from my backpack, took a few deep breaths and clocked in. ๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿฅ๐ŸŒด If you are a nurse and have the opportunity to pick up and move somewhere-DO IT!
