Even though I'm at home, in my own private space, I'm choosing to read in clothes today. These clothes represent my body shame, and I'm wearing them today in protest.
I saw a fellow "nudist" on IG yesterday, and showed my support by ❤️ a lot of his photos: nude at the beach, nude at home, hanging nude with his friends (who were all sorta fit), etc. After showing my support, I moved on with my day. Later, I got a follow request from him; I assumed he was curious about the person who had given him so many ❤️ but figured we also shared a common lifestyle, so maybe he was looking for more nudist friends. So, I accepted his request. Maybe a full minute later, after he had a chance to scope out my account, he unfollowed me.
Being a large guy in this community, I expect a certain level of body shaming; after all, u can't be everyone's cup of tea. But it was a good reminder that, just because someone brands themselves a "nudist" or "naturist", doesn't mean they value the natural Human body in ALL its forms. Shallow vanity and body shaming exists in every community, even ones that are supposed to be about body positivity.
So today, I'm protesting that fake "nudist" and people like him, by wearing the clothes society forces me to wear, to keep its shame, and mine, in check.
P.S., Don't worry, I'm fine. I'm not sad or upset about my body, nor is this a cry for help. It's just a post to bring awareness to this issue.
