She’s an individual blazing her own path in this world. She doesn’t worry too much about what she hasn’t had growing up. She never complains about the struggles of growing up in a “broken” family- with a mom who was only 18 when she had her- or how she moved around a lot when she was little because her mom was barely able to make it on her own at the time #Truth
Instead, she uses her struggles to make her stronger- more empathetic and compassionate. She doesn’t listen to any inner critic that tells her she’s too young, too this or too that to make a difference.
She just does.
The odds were always against her.
And yet, she prevails.
Tomorrow she will speak to her class about leadership- before she is inducted as the President of Herron High School’s National Honor Society. At the top 5% of her class in a school that is the top 1% of the country.
Yesterday, she performed for a room full of respected professionals in the city. In a one woman show that she wrote, directed, choreographed AND performed by herself- for an internship that she co-created for herself.
Today, she will come home and we will go shopping for something cool af (as she would say- I don’t judge) for the induction tomorrow. And she will be humble and thankful for anything I buy her.
Forever, she will be a force for change and good in this world- because she leads her life with love and compassion- and doesn’t leave a second in her day for anything but.. that’s the secret to fulfillment.. and the byproduct is success.
Alethea- I’m so so proud of your successes- and first and foremost- I’m proud of your heart. Congratulations! ❤️ •
