๐Ÿ’ชHow to fuel your body for a killer workout!๐Ÿ‘Š So first things first, everyone's body is different. You might be able to eat yogurt beforehand.... while yogurt would make me barf. But at a VERY basic level, here's what I try to focus on before my workouts: โšก1. PRE WORKOUT: Coffee!โ˜• Instead of 'preworkout' powder, I drink that good ole coffee. And I eat carbs! Depending on how long the workout is, I'll eat more or less carbs. If it's less than 30 min, I'll tend to do it fasted (don't eat). If it's an hour or so, I'll eat a banana. Anything longer than that, I will eat toast + pb + banana.๐Ÿฅœ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿž I aim to eat anywhere between 30-60 min beforehand, depending on how much it is so I have time to digest. Eating enough carbs before a workout is super important to make sure your body has enough fuel and energy to finish it out strong, without depleting your muscles. โšก2. POST WORKOUT: Protein AND carbs. This is important. You can theoretically eat post-workout protein throughout the day. The important thing to eat within 30 min of your workout is actually CARBS to replenish those glycogen stores in your muscles! My go-to post-workout meals are usually oatmeal or pancakes. And my fave protein powder is @the_goodguru. An INSANELY clean ingredients list and tasty to boot. Seriously, look em up!๐Ÿ˜ Anyways, what are YOUR go-to pre and post workout foods?? Oh, the soul of a thing. The intention behind it. The way the spirit in which something is created carries through to the creation itself and how it is experienced by self and others.
I have been deeply immersed in thought and creative exercises and challenges around the subject of what my business is all about. (Shoutout to #octoberbusinesschallenge & #unleashyourlight)! What does it offer? How does it make people feel? What gifts does it bring? Whom does it serve?
I'm a wordy person, not to mention my 'teacher's pet' and perfectionistic tendencies come out, even in courses and assignments where no one is marking me. ๐Ÿ˜‚ This means it's been difficult to describe Nurture or what I do in one sentence, or one word. I have paragraphs of emotion that describe my 'why' and the heart behind this. There is also my Elevator Pitch Allergy to contend with where I basically break out in twitches and hives at anything corporate or 'sales-y' in feel.
So, I got quiet. I listened. I asked some trusted others whom have experienced Nurture on different levels, and here's what was revealed, overarchingly:
Nurture is Connection.

It shows up in so many ways: through food. Through people meeting and vibing and then collaborating because they happened to talk about some other mutual love over a Nurture dinner. Through a feeling of being held and nourished so you can get quiet and hear what your soul and your creativity has to tell you. A feeling of belonging to a community whose heart is the kind of love normally attributed to family. A sisterly (and brotherly) love that infuses more connection about what's hard, what's needing to be spoken or made or revealed.
So, yes. I could keep going, but if you're the nutshell type, here it is again: Nurture is connection.

However, it's pretty tasty! If you like avocado, making a "guacamole" for your spaghetti in place of marinara may be something you'd like to try! I just used salt, pepper, garlic, and lemon juice and mashed it all with my avocado and mixed it with some plain noodles. Simple, yet unique, supper.
To be honest, I didn't feel like eating at all. I've been so stressed out with school. But it's always important to nourish yourself! So, even if you're not hungry at meal time, at least eat a little bit of something. Even if it means playing with your food and turning it green ๐Ÿ˜‰

This morning I took a wonderful class with a lot of heart opening and shoulder work. Which encouraged me to dive into my PD, that I have been neglecting for the past couple weeks. I read some, watched videos and even listened to a podcast while washing the dishes.๐Ÿ˜‰ All with the same themes of gratitude and mindfulness. It feels good to practice this act of self love every day and I really needed it today. I plan on incorporating these themes into my classes this week.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ“ฟ
