Question time, what do you do to stay sane on a work day?⠀

Working in the City can be rally hard some days. I’m a creature of nature and movement so spending 10 hour days in a florescent, AC’d out room is tough on my body and mind. ⠀

To stay sane I usually take a walk OUTSIDE after my lunch and breath actual air. It clears my head and I feel re-energized which helps me have a more productive and less anxiety ridden day. ⠀

Classic Tomato Spaghetti! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Anyone that knows me well knows that I have a healthy obsession with pasta. I often think I was Italian in a previous life. This classic tomato spaghetti reminds me of the beautiful holidays I spent in Italy and it was the first pasta dish I made when I started cooking. It’s simple, fresh, healthy, and it never disappoints. The ingredients I used today were olive oil, garlic, fresh chilli, small capers, cherry tomatoes & parsley (I usually use basil for this recipe, but I didn’t have any and parsley works just as fine). I also like to sprinkle some grated parmesan on top but that’s optional if you want a dairy free version. For the spaghetti I used kamut pasta, which is an ancient grain from my all time favorite pasta brand “Girolomoni”. Their pasta is organically grown and made in Italy. Their spelt pasta is just as amazing! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Interesting fact: Apart from other great nutrients, tomatoes are known for its high lycopene content. Lycopene is a very powerful antioxidant that has been shown to have anti-cancer benefits. The lycopene in tomatoes is significantly increased by cooking the tomatoes rather than eating them raw, and because lycopene is a fat-soluble nutrient, you can increase its absorption by cooking the tomatoes in a healthy fat, such as olive oil. Just make sure you’re not cooking them on a heat that’s too high :)

BOWL OF GOODNESS
Simple, easy, no fuss, whole-food bowl of goodness. Good food doesn’t have to be hard and nor does it need to look like it’s being served on Master Chef or photographed for a cook book.
Keep things simple, colourful, fresh and easy. This bowl literally took 5 mins (probably less) to create. It’s a good handful of mixed lettuce leaves, small handful of snow pea sprouts, what was left of the red capsicum, half a cucumber, the last of the roasted sweet potato and cauliflower, cherry tomato’s, 1/2 an avocado, hemp seeds and some sauerkraut with a squeeze of lemon all over.

After months of not posting any food images and being asked by a few people why and if I would again, I’m keen to share again (as I LOVE food - a LOT), but the images will be simple, in the moment (similar to this) because all the styling and curating that I found myself doing before started to take the joy of food away from me. So true, so many people eat way too much consistently, yet they are conditioning themselves to this.
When advising people to eat a little less and give up a snack throughout the day, they nearly meltdown due to the thought of feeling hungry.
Sad really when you think about it.

Anyone else battling a summer cold?! We are off to Toronto for a wedding in T-minus 3 days and I need to feel better STAT! A compromised immune system and airports... no thank you 😬 ⠀

I usually increase my zinc (in the form of zinc lozenges 👌) and Vitamin C&D 🍊🔆 intake along with more fluids 🥤 and sleep 😴 but it seems to be getting worse. What cold remedies do you live by?? I am open to all suggestions! 😷🍋🌶🥫🍵🥣☕️🥃⠀

I am posting this to show you that no body is perfect (yep so stop thinking the Photo-shopped models are), but that doesn't mean it's broken. My body isnt perfect at all, but damn it's amazing to me! Guess what, Your body isn't broken, and I know its amazing the way it is! STOP RIGHT NOW AND FREAKING LOVE THE SKIN YOU'RE IN. When you're bloated, having a bad day, trying to lose weight, trying to gain weight, or just overall becoming healthier, LOVE IT. When you are going on the journey to whatever goal it is, if you can't love and respect yourself NOW, you will never in the end. SO DO IT NOW.

In the past, I used to hate the way I looked. From that, I got nowhere. I thought I had to have wash board abs to be considered healthy. NOPE. I prefer not to have them. WHY? Well I find my body amazing right now and love it the way it is. Finally learning to accept me and all I am, I started pivoting to the right path. This is why I am here today: happy, healthy, strong, and rocking the food baby look. 😂 I FREAKING LOVE IT. My smile says it all. .
So, are you not in the best relationship with yourself right now?

I get it...i really do girl. Just understand this though, YOU ARE MADE AMAZING THE WAY YOU ARE. No one else can take that away from you. So yes, go on your journey to losing the weight and becoming healthier, but do it with the right perspective. STOP measuring your goals with a scale, and start looking at how you feel with in.❤

Good morning everyone! Morning means it’s time for my FAVOURITE meal of the day, which is BREAKFAST!!!😍 On today’s menu was the vanilla chia pudding and it was soo delicious!!🤤 recipe details below👇🏼

INGREDIENTS (serves 1)
1/4 cup chia seeds
1 cup almond milk
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
METHOD
1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl until well combined
2. Cover and let sit in fridge overnight
3. Top with your fav fruit and other toppings. I used strawberries, coconut and LOTS of peanut butter😍
4. Serve and devour!!

Breathe? It sounds simple right? It is, and yet its so much more than we think at first look.
Yes we take breaths all the time, duh. But how often to you really breathe, like stop what you are doing, focus yourself and listen to just your breath? Seriously, how often?
Taking time out to really breathe does more than just give you oxygen...
* It calms anxiety
* It relaxes tension in the mind & body
* It grounds you
* It moves the body into parasympathetic dominance (rest & digest!)
And the list goes on.
Yoga helps remind me to breathe, but lately I have started doing some deep box breathing before meals to help switch myself into rest and digest rather than flight or fight.
Inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4.
Repeat for 6 rounds of breath.
