Life throws a lot at us and when I was 24 life decided to throw something at me that I never dreamed of.
Life gave me the opportunity to become a stepdad and to learn some of the most valuable and eye opening lessons I’ve learned so far in life.
She’s taught me the value in living without judgement and title, she’s taught me how to say yes more than no and actually be happy about it, she’s taught me grey hair comes with a daughter not old age, she’s taught me that loving someone can be done without yelling and without expectation, she’s taught me life is short and if we aren’t careful life grows up before we know it, she’s taught me it’s the little moments that count and delirious laughing happens after 9pm, she’s taught me that I cuss a lot and I could continue with the list of all this wonderful addition to my life has taught me, but overall this now young lady has taught me the value in never giving up no matter how hard or how unfair things may seem.
She drives me to do better, to be better and to chase all that I want in life. I admire her self worth, her love for others and her desire to never fail. She’s hard on herself and that makes it so I don’t have to be as hard.
This kid makes me so proud and I couldn’t have been any prouder seeing her start as a freshman in her first Varsity Volleyball game yesterday. She makes her parents look good!
So, when life threw this adventure at me. I thought I was just a stepdad, but in the past 12ish years Moo has taught me I’m way more and titles don’t matter.
Don’t let a title take you away from the true journey. Love the journey and embrace all it has to offer.
