Pppprrrrrooouuudddd mommy moment. (More videos to follow and show how he did it all by himself) as many of you know or may not know, my son Cayden is 9 years old, he was diagnosed with Autism at a very early age. He had early intervention, about 18 months old, thats when we realized he was very far behind and just not your typical baby. He's been getting behavioral therapy and in only special schools and classes since then. His developmental assessments still categorize him as a toddler's mentality(1-3years old based on the category). I know my baby is beyond smart and in my eyes he's perfect, hes just going at a different pace then the rest of us. Some may think 9 years old and still doesn't dress him self or still in a diaper, not verbal, etc. Well all that is true, but he is progressing more and more to being independent. It's his world, not yours or mine. I'm just here to help him grow, love him deeply, show him he's safe in this crazy world, while at the same time he teaches me. .
This video he wants to go swimming so I use reinforcement. You want to go swimming, then you need to take your shoes and clothes off and boy was he off running with it and COMPLETELY UNDRESSED HIMSELF WITH NO ASSISTANCE, INCLUDING his shoes. BIG MOMENT. A moment that others may see as another day and normal but for us this is a HUGE AND PROUD Moment. He also put his shorts on after several attempts that u will see, again Huge! Days like today I'm in shock, like wth he just did all that like it was nothing, other days he stares at me with emptiness in his eyes as if he just can't power together how it's done or what I'm saying. I'm soaking in every moment that he progresses even if it's just today. #autismawareness #patience #progressnotperfection #hisworld #notdisabled #notdifferent #justhim #iloveyou #proudmama #autismmommy #grateful
