What does FREEDOM mean to you?
Today we celebrate freedom as a country and that we should all be thankful for. 🇺🇸Today is also a good day to ask yourself what freedom means to YOU.
A few years ago, a holiday like today would have caused me major anxiety because of the temptation everywhere to steer off my regimented diet and eating schedule. If I couldn’t weigh it or track it, I couldn’t eat it- no exceptions to the rule.
Sometime in the last 12 months, I was hit with an epiphany.
I realized I was massively unhappy living my life with these confinements and “rules” I made for myself. •
I realized I wasn’t FREE to live my life the way I actually WANTED. I was living my life according to how I THOUGHT I had to live it, mostly out of fear.
And fear of what?
All irrational but valid feelings.
It took practice and time, but I was eventually able to squash my fears and take control back in my life.
I’ve been enjoying intuitive eating for almost a year now.
I have a healthy relationship with food.
But most importantly, I have the freedom to choose what I want to eat and not have the imminent worry or pressure to track it and “fit it into my macros.”
This is my friendly reminder to you that our health and fitness journey should enhance and add value to our lives, not stress. •
If you are at all anxious about hitting the parties today to celebrate the holiday, remember this:
One day of going off your diet won’t make a difference in the grand scheme of things.
There is zero need to feel guilty about enjoying yourself and indulging.
Life’s too short to not be living it the way you CHOOSE to.
Fortunately for us, we have the freedom to decide what that means. •
