A coming out video! What? How? We already know Maya is a lesbian! Yes yes this is true!...For the most part.
1. This is a coming out video not about my sexuality but about my gender. I think it's important to state (both for visibility and clarification) that I identify as bi-gender, which is under the genderqueer umbrella. This means that I identify as both female and male.
2. Okie dokie but what does that mean? It means that some days I feel female and others I feel male. As a default, most of the time, and for ease of interaction, I usually identify as female. There are days, settings, and even longer periods of time, however, where I feel male, present as male, and go by male pronouns.
3. How do you, the people interacting with me, know which gender I am what day? It's safe to assume female for the most part, and I'll never get mad if you're wrong. I will just correct you or let you know beforehand if it's different. And it's always ok to ask.
4. This is very confusing to a lot of people. How can I be trans but not 'fully' trans? How can I be a super femmy fairy princess lady one day, an androgynous being another and a manly man the next? Can't help it. It's a deep emotional and physical feeling, and it's my reality. This has been something I've experienced since I was a kid, I just finally have the vocabulary to describe it.
