I took me a while (2 years) to figure out that exercise did not always have to mean torture. I used to force myself into doing cardio a few times a week, and loathe every minute of it. 🙅🏼

But then I realized, it’s not what MY body needed. I am already an anxious person; getting my heart rate up and forcing myself to do something I didn’t like made it worse. ☠️

I now enjoy getting up in the morning to do yoga or lift weights; I view it more as a reward for myself, and it has become something I look forward to rather than having anxiety about. 🌺

Everyone is different. I believe you should find something that works for you, and enjoy it, rather than associating it with negative energy 🖤

Anyone hate cardio??? Up until this year, I thought I had to do traditional cardio everyday. In fact, there were some days where I would hop on the elliptical or treadmill for around an hour! Most of the time I would watch a show or listen to music and try to pretend I wasn’t counting down the minutes till I reached my goal. There were 3 problems with this routine that noticed: …
1. After each workout I would be famished and have major sweet cravings
2. I wasn’t seeing any changes on the scale or with how my clothes felt
3. I associated cardio as a chore to check off each day

After doing research and using myself as an experimental trial, I have realized that shorter and focused workouts where you keep your heart rate up with body weight exercises and free weights was were I saw results!!! Not only did I start seeing my body transform, I had less cravings. Moving from 1+ hour gym visits to 30 min online workouts helped me change my perspective on working out and brought more joy to my life. I got my body audit today after having 1 12 weeks ago. There was pretty much no change & to me that's absolutely fine. :)

My goal wasnt clear at the start but 6 weeks in i decided i really wanted to put on muscle mass & weight in general. Due to factors over the past 2 weeks including a bad belt of gastro I haven't come very far scale wise but my strength has actually improved tremendously so I'm excited to see what the next few months to a year will do!

People are always losing weight which to me was pretty easy compared to this trying to put on weight business! I will get there & this is defiantly a new challenge for me! If it doesn't challenge you it won't change you. <3

Finally built a Nick Offerman inspired router X-Y axis jig for flattening big slabs. Andy is shown christening it with some 36" wide walnut that (was) 2-1/2"+ thick. People always stop us on the street and say, "Hey Catalyst, my friends and I were chatting last night, and we got into a bit of a squabble talking about cardio. Reginald believes that the treadmill is the best for weight loss, but Ebenezer thinks it's the rowing machine. Can you clear this up for us?" And to that, we always have the same answer; "STRANGER DANGER! STRANGER DANGER!" But after the police show up and we calm down a bit, we toss them some knowledge bombs.

What's the best piece of equipment for weight loss?! Anything with a stack of plates. To us, resistance training is what most people are lacking in their weight loss journey, and almost every client is surprised to hear this.
The media beats into you that cardio and caloric restrictions are what gets you the body you want, but in reality, limited cardio, moderate caloric deficits and 3-4 days per week of resistance training will do your body much better than hours of treadmill work and un-fun salads.

Build some muscle. If you're one of those people that's afraid to get too jacked, don't be. It doesn't happen like that. Building some appreciable muscle will help you burn much more fat at rest, and ensure that you keep your metabolism high, while making you look awesome without a shirt on. .. or pants on. Whatever you fancy.
