She stared at the mirror
After a long time,
And just in a matter of seconds
Her face turned grime.
Was it true what they said about her?
Was her body really that unsightly?
Too big and plain to look at
That it was never treated rightly
She turned away from her reflection
And thought about it all
How cruel the world can really be,
Desperate to make her crumble and fall
She was the victim but why was she called the culprit?
Was she the only one who was supposed to behave?
Was she of no value?
Was she only supposed to be a slave?
She shaked her head and
Wiped her tears,
Looking fiercely in the mirror
Letting go of all her fears.
No more, she told herself,
Making up her determined mind.
Putting on her brave armour
Leaving the negativity behind.
The world cannot break my spirit
And I'm the best I can be
I can rise from the deepest of falls
And I need no one else to agree. 😇
