Finally part 2 of my trip. I was very very lucky to get the opportunity to visit Tokyo again after only a year. So definitely went in knowing I might not be back again next year.
I had plenty of time to spend in Nippori Fabric town and checked out a ton of shops. But I think in the end its Tomato all the way! With their 5 shops, there is something for everyone. If someone is short on time just go to their shops, you won't miss anything. Prices are decent with most fabrics $8+ per meter. But the 100 yen (converted to less than a $1!) section makes up for it!
The quality of fabric in Japan is amazing! Tomato has everything, linens, double gauze, lawn, silk, jersey etc. There is a notions store too. And the 100 yen section 😍, such awesome fabrics and so cheap!
My trip in Tokyo was long enough that I could check out other fabric shops. I went to Okadaya, which is a dept store with a seperate fabric store. It's SO expensive but people were buying stuff like it was free 😂. One thing I didn't find at Tomato was quilted sweat shirting which I found at Okadaya and it was $30 a meter!! I didn't buy anything there but they had a really nice variety (If money was no object😉) .
I checked out a dollar store called Can-do, they happened to have sewing notions and got some bias tape from there.
I LOVE the fabrics I got from Tomato! If I ever go to Asia again, just going to save my sewing budget for Tomato.
