【 le joie de vivre 】
I realize that it’s part of my personality to focus on the things that I want to change and sometimes the things that I can’t change, but I am grateful for the things that I /do/ have, and the things that I /can/ change. —
As the days are counting down til my 27th birthday, I can’t help but to really take a second and look at where I am now, because I have come so far. I believe in the power of art and creative energy. At 26 I felt like the universe before the Big Bang, and then in an instant I was infinitely expanding, and I still am.
Today, one of the things I most grateful for is my drive and work ethic. My parents taught me so much, as immigrants in a foreign country they had to slay the game just to be even with everyone else. And damn did they hustle the system, we weren’t ever straight up poor but damn did they hustle i to give my sister and the opportunities that made us who we are.
For my birthday, I think I’d rather just celebrate my parents instead.
Don’t lose sight, of where you’re headed or where you’re from, in transit.
