London Marathon 2017 - 03:34:55 (PB)
There are a few days that just take your breath away, and you can't help but marvel at the beauty of the moment.
That start at Greenwich. The crowd losing their minds at every point along the way. The volunteers who went out of their way to make this so special for us. That right turn on to London Bridge, and that unbelievable setting at Cutty Sark. That hilarious signboard which said "Don't trust a fart after kilometre 40" which made me smile at a time I was suffering in the race. That amazing feeling when ~1 million people along the streets go wild cheering you through the pain. And also that humbling feeling when men dressed in tutus run past you. What a race, what a day!
A personal best for me, and negative splits worked yet again (1:48 and 1:46 for the two halves). There was a little bit of hamstring pain around the 38th km, but I'm glad I pushed through it. Doing fast finish long runs in training has really helped get rid of the 'wall'. And what a day it's been for the rest of the gang too! PBs flying everywhere, and a perfect race to run. Congratulations all!
