Wow wow wow! Still amazed by the show I watched last night at @terrakulture: Fela & The Kalakuti Queens
First of all, thank you to my amazing Auntie @iamlamkinicks for taking me along!
Secondly great job to the AMAZING cast & crew!! Hands down one of the best productions I've seen in a while. From makeup, costume, lights, band, dancing, acting, singing... everything was TOP NOTCH!! All while centering the stories of the amazing Queens that made Fela who he is. I wrote more on the blog about why this was such a top notch show, and why it's a must see!! But I just want to reiterate that I love that it is made in Nigeria, by Nigerians for Nigerians and about Nigerians (and one Ghanaian Queen!) But I do hope they get to take this show world wide because EVERYONE needs to see it! - how's that for a #shitholecountry? Tchwwww 😒😒 - •
And the best part was that it was put on by such amazingly talented and kind hearted people - some of whom I got to fan girl after the show. (Swipe for more photos). 1. The amazing @officialosas who played Malaika and nailed the role flawlessly!
2. The beautiful and talented @dollyphillips who was one of my favorite Queens to watch...a tall order because they were all so good!! 3. And of course the brilliant director @bolabap of it @bapproduction who decided that it was time to tell these Queens' story and did so authentically and creatively. She was even in contact with 2 of the original Queens, one of whom came on stage to speak last night (the one in yellow). 4. And the guy who played Fela... AMAZING job! Apparently this was his first time acting. I can see much more ahead of you! •
I'm gushing...check out the rest of my review on the blog...link in bio!!
