Driving home today after my last shift thinking #sign

β–ͺ️ did I give birth? β–ͺ️ I never thought I would end up having a c-section. The only time it crossed my mind was when I was about a week overdue and preparing to be induced, I told my mum I should probably buy some big big knickers just incase. I remember her saying 'don't be silly... you won't need them'. I had stupidly forgotten about the fact I may need an emergency c-section. I thought because my pregnancy had been relatively straight forward that the birth would be too. I dilated from 2cm to 6cm very quickly & upon being examined they discovered a blood clot and I then started bleeding due to placental abruption.
When I was in the recovery room I remember thinking about people in the past that had laughed and said 'too posh to push'. I felt nervous about having to tell people my birth had resulted in a c-section and I felt that my body had failed me. Looking back I now think how ridiculous... who cares how the baby arrives as Long as they are healthy.
I remember people writing to me saying well done. And I said to family members 'they shouldn't be saying well done... I didn't do anything' πŸ˜” but you know what... I did!! I grew a baby inside me for well over 9 months (I was 2 weeks overdue πŸ˜’) I underwent major surgery for her to arrive in this world safely & I will probably always have a scar to show it.
I was fortunate to recover very quickly & with minimal discomfort. This is my scar now... and you know what... I did give birth!!! She just had to arrive out of my belly! Not my other body part! πŸ‘ΆπŸΌ #csectionrecovery #csection #babygirl #birthstory #nhsinduction #postpartumbody #postpartum

🌺 "Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body." 🌺
This little lady is 16 weeks old on Thursday. This time 16 weeks ago I was 12 days overdue & alone in hospital waiting to be induced. It was meant to happen at 1.30pm on Tuesday but didn't happen until 4am on the Wednesday. She just did not want to budge 😬
Over these last 16 weeks I have felt many different emotions. From feeling excited about meeting Madison, to feeling scared that I had lost her when my placenta abrupted during labour & being rushed for an emergency c-section, to feeling helpless when she suffered with colic & silent reflux.. & now pride at seeing her meeting milestones β–ͺ️
I feel so blessed to be this little divas mummy. She may have cried for multiple nights in the early weeks of her life (stuff you colic!) & worried us sick with her silent reflux... but thanks to the amazing work of our NHS she arrived safely. β–ͺ️
It must have only been around 15 minutes from the alarm being pulled to our little lady being shown to me. I may not have got instant skin to skin, I lost 1.6 litres of blood, my husband missed it by 5 minutes, I didnt get any of my birth plan πŸ™ˆ & I may now have a scar across my stomach - but I would do it all again in a heartbeat for this smiley little face. ❀️
I may never get the chance to have another child & im cherishing every moment with this little one because the outcome on the day she was born could have been so very different if our NHS theatre staff weren't so incredible - it's a shame midwife wasn't a bit more friendly, but never mind ! β–ͺ️
This past 16 weeks have not only seen my love for Madison grow each day, but also my love for my husband ❀️ β–ͺ️#birthstory #16weeksold #nhs #nhsinduction #babygirl #csection #csectionrecovery #cesarean #proudmummy
