Ran across this picture the other day and I think I made that same little smerk/smile when I saw it. To most it’s just another competition, another stage shot, you’ve seen ‘em... but I look at this pic and think of so much more.

It was my Pro Debut as a Natural Bikini Pro and also the most difficult prep of my life. I think back and wonder how the hell I did it, but I somehow did. It was not only a long, trying prep, but I shed lots of tears during that prep as some of the most difficult/inevitable things you dread and/or fear happened; but I somehow powered through it. I guess I was determined and refused to allow myself to attend that show as a spectator. And maybe “prep life” gave me a sense of control while so much of my life was out of control.

However, after that show was done...I will say this... it was as if everything started to take a turn for the better. I had proved something to myself and felt so accomplished. I think of all I have done since that show and am utterly mind blown. That trial period truly did shape me and I’ll be forever grateful. Point to me rambling on and on is... just because life gets hard, and my gosh it will, doesn’t mean you should lose track of whatever goal you have - whether it be fitness, personal, career, whatever. Keep fighting because I guarantee you God has something greater than you could ever imagine in store for you at the finish line.

Goal setting is a very important variable in this fitness lifestyle and in life in general 👊🏾 but be sure to set REALISTIC GOALS for yourself 👍🏾 setting goals that are too extreme will cause you to fall off course far too early in your journey, we all want a chiseled physique but we tend to lose sight on reality forgetting about the necessary steps that needs to be taken before reaching such achievements👊🏾 instead of focusing on getting from A to Z focus on getting from A to B then from B to C etc👍🏾 realistic goal setting is a sure way to enjoy the process and seeing your progress 💯💯💯

Yesterday I was blessed with the opportunity add to my unexpected bodybuilding resume 😁 I test judged a show and I must say that my love and perspective for this sport has grown and changed a bit (for the good) I’ve been to plenty of shows and also doing 6 shows myself being seated at the table that determines the outcome of each class is a totally different challenge, the battle between “the criteria vs my personal preference” was truly challenged yesterday. A quite tiring but very fulfilling experience enhanced my love and respect for this sport. An accomplished ending to a bittersweet 2017 season...

After 3 weeks of eating and drinking all the crap I wanted post contest, I have lost my cravings for bad foods. Been cooking and prepping my foods for the week. Need to make sure my gains are mostly muscle and not much fat. This evening I am having beef meatballs with marinara sauce and parmesean cheese. Mixed of greens and kale with cranberries, pumpkin seeds and sweet poppy seed dressing. ✨👙Posing 👙✨it is something you should be doing anywhere and everywhere you can, every day. As a competitor, you should place as much importance on this as you do your diet and training. If you can present your physique in the best way possible, what do the judges have to look at other than a bunch of flailing arms and awkward twists. (Watch some competitions on YouTube if you have no idea what I’m talking about.)

My background is in the natural bodybuilding realm and we do quarter turns. So I had that down, but definitely not a front and back pose 10 second presentation. When I decided to step on the NPC stage I made sure to work with someone that could teach me these model poses (and my god, model walk..) so a huge thank you to @iammichelelavon for helping to prepare me for the NPC stage and portray my achieved athleticism, but do so with class. 👌🏻

Your physique changes whether it is from show to show like mine did this past year and of course season to season, so your posing will also need to have slight adjustments as you get leaner to show off your strengths.

As a posing coach myself, I would say the majority of girls I work with reach out at the last minute. Terrible idea... just being honest. You should start posing the moment you decide on a show. Don’t worry about how your physique looks, you need to know the steps and simply how to move your body. A judge will know whether you’ve practiced or not and it will cost you placings, believe me. So slip on those heels and get used to them! 👌🏻

Calmness is a superpower. The ability to not overreact or take things personal keeps your mind clear and your heart at peace. You have to learn how to not be controlled by other people's negativity. You can't walk around with a button that can easily be pushed. You can't be swayed left or right ever second by what others outside of you are saying and doing. You have to learn how to be in control of your inner emotions and gain inner stability. Be too great for negativity and nonsense.
Your emotions:

You might not realize this, but you choose how you want to feel. You choose to be sad, happy, excited, up, and or down. However, when people don't understand this, they become reactors. Reactors, tie their inner emotions to things, people, situations, and or circumstances. They wait till "this" happens to be happy. They can't be excited unless "that" happens. Have you noticed, that when you're just happy for no reason, people ask "what are you so happy about?" It's like we just can't be in that state, without having a reason. And for most people, if there is no reason to be happy, they are either sad or depressed waiting for something on the outside to shift their inner state.
Start choosing your inner state:

First step is deciding how you want to feel. If you don't decide, you'll be waiting for something on the outside to decide for you. When you make a clear cut decision, nothing will alter that state, if you keep your vision on the choice you made. You have the most effect on your reality when you feel good. Feeling good aligns you to the things you desire. The environment might look the same; but the mind looking at it has changed. Know that your inner reality, controls your outer reality.

Be free:
I know you might not have been taught this, but you're meant to feel good for no reason. You're meant to be happy for no reason. You're meant to smile for no reason. Let your self go and be free. You no longer have to wait to get these feelings, you longer have to expect others to give it to you to get these feelings. We have to stop tying ourselves down when we're meant to fly.

I see this in every gym🙄 crowded saunas and steam rooms filled with folks wearing full body sweat suits/trash bags thinking they’re going to sweat the fat off 😑 IT DOES NOT WORK LIKE THAT👊🏾 sure enough you will lose some water weight due to sweating but as soon as you eat and drink some water not only will you gain all of that weight back you might gain more depending on the amount of sodium thats in your food👊🏾 There is no way around it people, PROPER DIET is the first step to efficient and sufficient weight/fat loss💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
