Official: The New York Rangers have announced David Oliver and Greg Brown as the team’s new assistant coaches. Welcome to the New York Rangers Organization!! ☺️
David Oliver, a former Rangers player, joins the team after spending the past 11 season with the Colorado Avalanche organization. He has played in 14 regular season games and 3 playoff contest during the 1996-97 season with the Rangers. Oliver served as the Director of Player Development for the Avalanche. He assisted in the progression of many top Avalanche’s top prospects including current Rangers Kevin Shattenkirk. He also served as Lake Erie’s GM when the team hired David Quinn as the Monsters’ Head Coach prior to the 2009-10 season as well as serving as an Assistant Coach on Quinn’s staff in Lake Erie during the 2011-12 season.
Greg Brown joins the Rangers after spending the past 14 season at Boston College. During his coaching, Boston College has won the NCAA championship 3 times (2007-08, 2009-10, and 2011-12). Brown has coached several current and former Rangers including Chris Kreider and Kevin Hayes. He has also served as Assistant Coach for Team USA in several international tournaments. He coached Brady Skjei at the 2014 World Junior and Ryan Lindgren at the 2017 and 2018 World Junior Championship. In addition Greg Brown has played with some Rangers legends, Brian Leetch and Mike Richter at the 1988 Winter Olympics.
