Bag packed and ready to go into hospital for what will be the final step on my breast cancer journey. This last surgery is my finishing line....and when I wake up from it I'll have smashed through it!!! I feel so extremely lucky to be saying this 16 months after diagnosis....I am very aware that many are less fortunate and I really count my blessings ❤️
I won't ever be able to forget it. I'll be taking medication for years and be monitored closely. My body has been permanently disfigured by 6 operations (including a double mastectomy) and tiny radiotherapy tattoo dots. But cancer you are stuffed and I don't care about the scars, in fact I'm proud of them. They are a small price to pay and proof that I won!!! 👊
I've met some truly amazing people along the way. I will be eternally grateful to the fabulous medical staff who I owe my life to. I've crossed paths with inspirational people whose cancer journeys are much more difficult than mine, but they have still been there to support me. I have been overwhelmed by all the support from my fabulous family and friends. Thank you lovely people for all the visits, lifts, company at hospital appointments, phone calls, cards, texts, hugs.....I know your time is precious but I'm so grateful as you have prevented me from going insane and helped to keep me smiling 😀
Breast cancer is certainly not pretty pink and fun...it's ugly, scary, painful and breaks hearts 💔 However it can be beaten if it's caught early. I was so lucky that mine was found on a routine mammogram.
So I ask you my friends to please turn up for mammograms and regularly check your boobs....it could save your life too! 🍉🍉
