Today's #FunFactFriday celebrates New Town Montessori! While not knowing much about the Montessori method originally, we have put each of our children through the school and we could not be happier with the result. It is truly a unique experience, and they completely embrace the New Town community! This is just a small sample of the awesome pictures. For more, check out their Facebook page and you will be amazed at some of the activities they have going on. Personally, we could not recommend it enough. But don't take our word for it, here is 5 Questions with owner Tess Weber-Padavan!! #NewTownLiving #ItsHappeningStC #Montessori
1.) How long has New Town Montessori (NTM) been open? How long have you been teaching Montessori? - NTM opened in April 2012 at the current Toddler Location. We started as a small Primary only class and word quickly spread. With the overwhelming demand, we decided to build a new home in New Town that was specifically designed to meet the needs of our growth and popularity. I have been working in the field of Montessori education for over 15 years. I have been a Montessori Directress running my own classes for 13 years.
2.) For those unfamiliar, what is different about the Montessori method? What ages is New Town Montessori open to? - The Montessori method was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori and is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children from birth to adulthood. Children are allowed to explore all facets of learning at their own pace. Montessori is based on self-directed activity hands on learning and purposeful work, that values the development of the whole child (physical, social, emotional, and cognitive). NTM is open for children ages 6 weeks through Kindergarten.
