Jen // I grew up in Lancaster, back when there was a lot less to do. I moved away for college, but then moved back. I sort of fell into the newspaper business. This turned out to be a really good fit in some ways. It can be really different each day. It’s an excuse or reason for me to get out there and talk to people, because sometimes I find myself very introverted. It gives me the courage to go up to people that I might ever talk to, or events that I might not go to. I’m a mother of twins as well. They both turn 16 next week. It’s been fascinating to watch them grow and change from children to adults. Sometimes I hear things on social media before I hear it from them. You realize that they have lives outside of your own. And those lives are bigger then you realized. They have definitely done things that have scared me. A lot of teens don’t have filters online, instead it’s just “this is me.” Having grown up in a different generation, where we kept things guarded closely, it can be a little scary. I think parents have always struggled with their kids growing up, but when they’re growing up for everyone to see… It’s a different kind of scary.
