Have you heard of it? It's scary as hell! My friend tagged me in a video on FB yesterday and I haven't stopped reading about it since - ironically all on my devices 🤦 I know we are not stupid and as individuals and parents we are aware of the side effects of technology. But are you actually across just how detrimental our reliance on devices can be on our memory, brain function and socialisation? I wasn't 😕 And I'm a freaking school teacher 😣 I mean I knew, but the effects are dramatic!
We rely on our devices to remember phone numbers, dates and events. We use devices to calculate simple arithmetic and check simple spelling. We talk openly via text but struggle to start a conversation with a real life friend. We are essentially making our own thinking, our own brains devoid - which is so very frightening.
I will link some pages in my stories if you're interested.. but in a nutshell:
1. Limited screen time
2. Use your head
4. Read a real book
5. Interact in real life
It's about conscious efforts to keep our brains working and our relationships real. A big fat reminder for me and my kids.
