PLEASE TAG ANY TANNEHILL HATER, I AM GOING TO END ANY DOUBTS YOU HAVE ABOUT HIM.
Ryan Tannehill has been criticized his whole entire career. From the day he was drafted, all the way to today, he's been scrutinized for his play. "He can't throw the deep ball, he doesn't have pocket awareness, he turns it over too much, he can't get the ball in the end zone inside the 20, he can't run an offense, he's not a franchise QB, he shouldn't have gotten the max deal. Right?"
WRONG. * Can't throw the deep ball
This might be the most common argument you'll hear from RT17 haters. And the truth is, it's not accurate, AT ALL. Ryan threw an insane 78.3 percent on throws 16-20 yards down the field, which was NUMBER ONE IN THE LEAGUE. Not to mention he also posted a rating of 121.5% on passes from 21-30 yards. And no, his receivers don't bail him out, considering they only created 9 receptions all year on bad balls, which was 8th fewest in the league.
* Poor pocket awareness
Really? Ryan Tannehill was sacked 27 times this year, and according to an article from Cain Fahey, who's studied QBs for 10 years, only 1 of those sacks was avoidable. The reality is, he's had a poor o-line his whole career, and the sacks are not a reflection of his pocket awareness, especially since he was hurt the final 4 games due to his o-line. This guy has proven to be elusive, and can extend plays, which he showed this season. Myth busted.
* Too many turnovers
Ryan Tannehill only threw 12 interceptions last year, which ranked right in the middle of the league. Half of those ints were the faults of his teammates, the highest in the league. His career pass interception percentage is 2.5%, and for comparison, Matt Ryan and Drew Brees have the same percentage for their career. * Terrible red zone QB
Ryan Tannehill had the best QBR in the red zone this year among playoff QBs with a rating of 119.7, ahead of the likes of Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, and Aaron Rodgers. His QBR was 11th total in the league.
Don't @me in the comments. He's clearly one of the better QBs in the league, and you can't debate it. Creds to @finszone for some of the info. #ryantannehill #miamidolphins #newmiami #finsuniverse
