I remember my first night in Liberia. It was raining and humid. I had told my family that I would not have phone service or wifi so they had to trust that I arrived safely. I remembered staring at my barred window into the vast darkness and listening to the sound of crickets. I remember thinking about the story of a visitor who was robbed when she was sleeping. I remember washing my hair with the little water that I had. And I remember how excited I was to visit the communities, hear the children laugh, walk the streets, appear on a Liberian radio show, and see the ocean from a hill in Monrovia where a huge market is located.
I flew one full circle around the Earth within 3 months. I made unforgettable memories. I traveled. 2017 was memorable. Here's to 2018.
