P o s i t i v e | luxury. We are delighted to introduce Ultimate Safaris latest venture SOSSUS UNDER CANVAS in the stunning Greater Sossusvlei-Namib Landscape, just thirty minutes’ drive from the gateway to Sossusvlei and the Great Namib Sand Sea, which has recently been declared a World Heritage Site. Sossus Under Canvas is built in a natural amphitheatre formed by a south-facing granite outcrop, and it operates between April and November. Tents are protected from the stormy east winds by natural stone walls, shaded by roofs built from almost 500 recycled oil drums, and equipped with furniture built mostly from recycled metals, oil drum lids, recycled wooden pallets and other recycled wood including the remains of an old Oregon Pine floor. As a result, the camp is virtually invisible from any distance and, together with //Huab Under Canvas, it carries the lowest environmental footprint of any camp in Namibia. 🙌 Better still, 20% of all revenues earned at Sossus Under Canvas will be directly re-invested into the conservation of the area, thus staying true to Ultimate Safari's philosophy of re-investing into the environment. This camp can only be booked on an exclusive basis and can only be used as part of one of our privately guided or fly-in safaris with Ultimate Safaris.
Recommended for groups of between 4 and 12 people but also available for couples at a surcharge.
