Staff Spotlight: Somers Student Services, Kellie Anderson
Kellie has been a member of the NETTTS team in Somers, CT and is a part of the Student Services group. She helps to track student progress and records to ensure things like attendance, graduation, and testing dates are on track. Kellie also assists with students with their class schedules, scheduling make up time, and much more. If you’ve ever called into the Somers school, or walked up those front stairs there is a good chance Kellie has helped you along the way.
What is it you like the most about your role here at NETTTS?
“I love talking with people and really enjoy getting to know them. Once you meet me you’ll see I’m pretty outgoing so this role is perfect for me!“ What advice would you give to someone who’s thinking about coming to school here?
“Come in excited, and have fun. Check your worries at the door and just have go with it.” Tell me about what keeps you going day to day?
“I love the atmosphere here. We are all here for the students, and we really are a family here. It feels like home.” How do you help students to become successful?
“My department is really the hub for students between all the different departments: Financial Aid, Job Placement, Attendance, Test Dates, etc. so my role is similar to that of a student advisor. Plus me and my team are often the ones that people meet or talk with right as they walk through the door. It’s important to be welcoming and find out what they need and that is a feeling we try to carry through their entire time here at the school.” How about 2 truths and a lie?
1. My favorite sports team is the NY Yankees
2. I’m a natural blonde
3. I have all boys in my family–no female cousins, sisters, or anything
What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?
“You get more with sugar than with spice.”
