🤷🏼♀️ if I eat super healthy and organic, do I still need supplements? I used to wonder the same thing before I started researching "gut health" so I get it! I get everyyyy bit of this question!
Here was my problem: I started eating organic years before it was mainstream. I haven’t eaten wheat/gluten since the 90s. I ate low carb with quality fats for years. I rarely eat out. I eat really good quality healthy food. Yet I was slowly gaining weight year after year, was incredibly bloated 24/7 for more years than I can count, had severe pain from my arthritis knees, asthma was getting worse each year, had chronic sinus and respiratory infections, and was depressed. So, for me food wasn’t assisting my health very much!
Dr. Mark Hyman shared the following...... “‘Can I get all the nutrients I need from food?' a patient will occasionally ask. On the surface, this makes sense. After all, if you are eating a whole, fresh, unprocessed foods diet, shouldn’t you be able to get an abundant supply of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other nutrients?
Unfortunately, things aren’t that easy. We cannot get away from the need for nutritional supplements. Even with a perfect diet, the combination of many things—including our depleted soils, the storage and transportation of our food, genetic alterations of traditional heirloom species, and the increased stress and nutritional demands resulting from a toxic environment—make it impossible for us to get the vitamins and minerals we need solely from the foods we eat.
Simply put, the evidence shows we cannot get away from the need for nutritional supplements." The research shows that QUALITY nutritional supplements are essential to our health! No matter how healthy, clean, organic and FRESH you eat, you STILL need supplementation to provide those extra essential vitamins and minerals in your body! And that’s not even mentioning the magical Chitosanase in Plexus that kills off the candida overgrowth (that is responsible for all the inflammation in the body) that everybody needs!
So, I am my own research. Supplementing prebiotics, probiotics, and a whole body cleanse has been life changing for me!
