Hello peps‼️As I told you guys I live in the right part of a small caribbean lovely island, called: Dominican Republic. I work in the Dominican Medical Students organizaron in which we have a project called “My body is mine” where we go to poor communities and make activities with the kids that helps us identify as future doctors if one of these kids are been or could be abused. One of the activities is this one we put the kid to color the parts no one can touch is surprising how the majority of kids don’t recognize all the parts. We keep working in these cases. I think not only in my country, all around the world kids are not being well teach about sexual ed, so we as future professionals and professionals should rise that voice, teach, do anything but move with the case‼️‼️🥊🌎 • If you guys live in the DR or are coming to the DR and want to be part of the project let me now❓

In some countries isn’t really difficult to get into a surgery as an observer (just watch the process and learn). In my country, it’s like that, this is me at my cousin’s cesarean in which I could be present (not touching, just eyes👀) because I’m a medical student, that hospital don’t reallly do that at alll but they made an exception because the doctor, in my case I don’t enjoy obstetrics at all but I was there just to be with my cousin, also I don’t really like to bother, some doctors don’t like other people to be in their surgeries like in my case the anesthesiologist said to me “You, so you are Medical student?, okay put the oxymeter in the finger you have to and also measure the blood pressure”. I was like okay, that’s easy‼️... but he was doing that because he doesn’t like me to be there without doing anything ( it was good for me).Guys never waste opportunities when you like something but we need to priorize things, I woudln’t go to a cesarean if i don’t really want to be involved in the area, it’s okay it’s cool to have experiences but remember time is valuable, don’t invest it wrong, pursue what you want‼️🏨❤️🔝

Part of the OSCE in cardiology while I was in the simulation lab practices, in this case the doctor presents us a patient with a diabetic neuropathy who had a silent heart attack, it was really good case he makes us think and analyze every detail of the case after we found out our posible diagnosis, we did the EKG and we knew what we had in front of us. I always say when we have a case it’s always important to join the dots, sometimes you only see one condition or don’t think it could be a mixed case, patients are not always going to come like the book so think that every time you touch one, it’s a new world📌• so JOIN THE DOTS ‼️‼️‼️🔝👩🏻‍⚕️🌎 - This kind of simulation lab and OSCE help you prepare to the step 2CS so keep your eyes open while in class❗️

In med school you find people that touches you, that since you know them you know they have the same fire as you, the same fire to be a leader, to think outside the box and do more, thanks for being one of them, people always do what sets your soul on fire and you will have big results! • congrats @mariandmend for you leadership in @ifmsard ❤️👩🏻‍⚕️👩🏽‍⚕️📌 • Tbt to my WCC photoshoot‼️🔝 - keep those with the same 🔥 as you close❗️

Do you do white coat ceremony in your university❓This ceremony marks the student's transition from the study of preclinical to clinical health sciences. At some schools, where students begin meeting patients early in their education, the white coat ceremony is held before the first year begins. When I start medicine back in 2014, in my first semester i asked my school director if they do that in my university and he said “No, it’s not part of our protocol”. That day I said, I will do it, you will see. Then when I get at that point, me and powerful group of girls planned the WCC and presented to the school director, he said yes and there’s me, accomplishing a little dream, it’s seems impossible but in life nothing is impossible I’m using this simple example but everything exist because it can be done, if not why would exist. 👩🏻‍⚕️🔝 Let’s make the IMpossible happened‼️🥊📌

I cannot begin to express how proud I am of the woman Kristie is, always has been, and is becoming! Her foundation @mickiesmiracles is helping families detect and cure epilepsy! She is helping save so many lives, and this is JUST THE BEGINNING folks, Epilepsy and how to treat it, has been grossly overlooked, and with Kristie’s passion, and dedication
this disease is finally getting the light shined on it!

“I think it’s relevant to what’s going on right now. I love the outdoors and I’m totally against this pipeline thing that’s going on.”

Dr. Adam Harcourt came up with this explanation of how migraines work a few years back and has been explaining it to patients ever since. It has helped so many people better understand the way their brain works, that we thought we’d share it again for anyone who hasn’t heard it yet.
.
Picture that your brain has a bucket inside. All migraine patients have a different size bucket… Some very small and some larger. The smaller the bucket, the faster it will fill up with stress and triggers and overflow into a migraine. .
Our goal during the one week intensive portion of our migraine program is to make your bucket as big as possible. This will allow you to be able to handle a lot more stressors without your bucket overflowing and causing a migraine.
.
We do this with neurological rehabilitation, peripheral nerve stimulation, gaze stability exercises, vestibular rehabilitation, manual therapies, eye-head tracking exercises, and/or peripheral vision training.
.
The bucket can also be in different parts of the brain, which is why different treatments are effective for different patients.
.
This is only 1 of the 4 main factors that cause migraines, but it is a very key one that should not be left untreated.

We have so many dancers, netballers, footballers (from athletes to the weekend warrior) coming into the clinic for an Applied Movement Neurology appointment before a big event (especially while we’re in finals season)
This young lady has an appointment before every major dance comp and boy has she noticed the difference!
Contact the clinic today for any enquires and to book your appointment
Get 100% out of your body and it’s ability, making sure muscles are firing at their full capacity

Somedays are easier than others. Today was one of those “others.” I HATE seeing this girl struggle and I hate it even more that I can’t just make it all go away. I hate Epilepsy. It could always be worse, right!? Well, yea...But it still all f&cking sucks. #UCLAMCH #Neurology #PediatricNeurology #Epilepsyawareness #seizuressuck

Sertoli cells form specialized, actin-rich adhesions called “ectoplasmic specializations.” Adhesions between Sertoli cells make up the blood-testis barrier while adhesions between Sertoli cells and germ cells prevent premature release of sperm. Disruptions in these adhesions interfere with spermatogenesis and can result in infertility.
.
Here, a mouse testis is stained with espin (🛑, an actin-bundling protein), Sox9 (💚, marker of Sertoli cell nuclei), and DAPI (🔷, DNA).
