Directed by Ridley Scott
I apologize for this review being posted so late, as it was a huge pain in the ass to get some shit done since last Thursday night.
Ridley Scott directed the shit out of this film!
The man truly does understand sci-fi, and it DEFINITELY shows here.
This is one gorgeous film, and must be seen on the biggest screen possible.
The visuals are fucking magnificent, and knowing that the effects are mainly REAL SETS made and limited CGI, it makes me truly appreciate what they've done.
It better fucking be nominated and win Best Effects at next-years Oscars.
It also goes without saying that this film is also REALLY gory!
Like, it's borderline NC-17 gore.
It's quite shocking, and when it happens, Scott doesn't hold anything back.
Particularly 2 sequences, which has some good scares and the tension is HIGH!
And honestly it wasn't just the visuals and gore that surprised me the most: it was the acting.
Michael Fassbender is a fucking God here!
His double-performance as David, a sick and twisted synthetic android who essentially hates his creators, and Walter, the kind and friendly synthetic android who helps his allies throughout the fight, is so fucking good.
Danny McBride is also pretty good here, and gives possibly his best performance.
Katherine Waterson started off a little rocky, but she got better with each act and has some parallels with Ripley.
This is also a pretty bold film, maybe even more than Prometheus, and you might get some more questions than answers.
But it's visual beauty, shocking violence, and masterclass acting made the experience for me.
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair.
