This fishing vessel was stationed off the breathtaking Kaikoura coastline. This region is famous for its abundance of crayfish. Kaikoura is a Maori word which translates to meal of crayfish.
During three months of travelling around New Zealand I learnt how much the people care about their wildlife and environment. It was incredible and refreshing to see the amount of work the government puts into protecting it.
After taking this photograph I noticed multiple signs stating that new fishing restrictions as been put in place. The restrictions had been implemented to help the ecosystem recover from the damage caused by the 2011 earthquake.
