Let me tell you a story about me and this damn cake. ||
This morning I was looking for wedding theme inspo and I came across a theme I loved - 'dark romantic', so I googled that some more. Next, up comes this cake, practically eye raping me. Google obviously thought that 'black forest cake' is basically the same thing as 'dark romantic wedding theme' so it chucked it into my search results, for good measure.
So I see this cake and I think: fuck that's a glorious cake...sending me off on a tangent about eating cake for lunch and researching 'best local cake bakers'. My friend suggested we have an entire 'cake bar' at our wedding, instead of just the one, over-the-top, arse-tasting cake and I reminded myself to msg her to tell her it was a fab idea. Not yet though, I thought, I need another 45 mins to trawl the internet for cake bakers and stalk her profile.
Being too caught up in 'thought' is kind of like letting a slightly unhinged, mental person follow you around all day, calling all the shots, like:
Let's eat cake for lunch;
I wonder how white my scalp would be if I shaved it. I should shave it;
Oh, mind 🙈 you're a silly sausage sometimes.
If you want to learn to stop getting caught up in mind shenanigans, start with listening to it a while. Notice what your minds doing (without judging it) and then have the discipline to keep redirecting it onto something more useful.
And don't let yourself Google cakes. Check out my blog for more mind taming inspo - nothing more about food and cakes though.
