It's sometimes called an invisible illness because you can see someone who looks perfectly "normal" (I don't like that word by the way, but that's another post) yet they are fighting for the life and their happiness. 33,000 people a year going through this for the first time. That's almost 3,000 people a month.

And that's just new cases. That's doesn't include the 1.6 million already living with it in America, or the ones who haven't been diagnosed yet, or the ones who have been misdiagnosed or been told by their doctor they "just have IBS"

Who's in it for real? Don't just like this post, through a comment and tell me you're going to join the fight and so we can get this number down in the coming years. And for those who have to have this dreadful disease, we will have an incredible loving country of a support group waiting for them.

This one really hits home. If you are like so many of us, we often eat to fill a void inside and trigger the feeling of ‚treating ourselves‘. In medical terms also called the dopamine reward center 👩🏼‍⚕️. Dopamine gets released when we do something ‚pleasurable‘. Next time you reach for that cheat that may only trigger symptoms, think of what else you can do to nourish and ‚treat‘ yourself with.
Great ways to boost dopamine naturally and in a more sustained manner are eating a diet with enough protein and vitamin B6 in it, as they are needed to make dopamine, reduce copper overload of present as it drains away dop., cold showers, exercise, sex, sunlight.

Can you imagine what it would feel like to spend 10 days caring for yourself, diving deep into the natural rhythm of your body and align with the moon and the season to come, so you can THRIVE throughout the year? .

Loaded with gut-friendly bacteria, kimchi is an awesome Korean dish that helps aid in digestion, detoxifies the body, assists in weight and diabetes management, and generally offers a variety of great nutritional benefits. Kimchi is a fermented food, which means it has lots of probiotic bacteria to help build and maintain the gut microflora that are so critical to digestive health.

Typically fermented cabbage and loads of garlic are the two most recognized ingredients in kimchi; however, this recipe gives you a quick and easy option to enjoy Korea’s national dish in as little as 12 to 24 hours.

Quick Cucumber Kimchi
- 2 small cucumbers (8 ounces)
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 2 scallions, white and light green parts only, finely chopped
- 1¼-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon fish sauce

1. Cut cucumbers in half lengthwise and then crosswise into ⅛-inch-thick half-moons. Place in a medium bowl and mix with salt. Let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.

2. Combine garlic, scallions, ginger, vinegar, chili powder, sugar and fish sauce in a bowl

3. Drain cucumbers and stir into the vinegar mixture. Cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.

A C T I O N // It’s raining this morning. It also happens to be the day I’ve chosen to start running. I was taking a moment to reflect yesterday and asked myself what I really need most right now. In the midst of wedding planning (!), career transitions and this whole holy-f*%$-I’m thirty-one-what-now kind of feeling, what’s the best thing I can do for myself? The answer was movement. So despite only going on 3 runs pretty much ever, I decided “tomorrow I start running”. .

I woke up and it was pouring rain. After a cup of tea and some hemming and hawing I thought, so what if I get wet? And out I went. And damn it felt good. Just to use and honour this body that is capable of so much. To show up for myself. Even for just ten minutes. .

Good news is the the smoke should clear up this week, and since we know you're going to be outside anyway, here's some advice from News Channel 21.

Drink plenty of water. • Reduce other sources of indoor smoke and dust, including: burning cigarettes, candles, gas or propane ranges, wood burning stoves and furnaces, and vacuuming. • Reduce the time you engage in vigorous outdoor activity. • If you have heart or lung disease or respiratory illnesses such as asthma, follow your health care provider’s advice about prevention and treatment of symptoms. • Consider maximizing time in air-conditioned homes or buildings during smoky periods or visit public, air-conditioned places such as libraries, community centers, senior centers, restaurants, and retailers for relief from smoke."
