|| How awesome are these interlocking vertebra segments the kids found some metres apart from one another!! ||
My family has been coming to this beautiful property for as long as I've been alive. Initially just as day trout fishing trips before growing into what is now an annual camping weekend. Some years our numbers have swelled to 40+, this year with all the littleuns we kept it smaller - just 20.
The weather wasn't the greatest but that didn't stop the kids playing in the creek building dams, catching bait and then trout; riding in the back of the trailer or on the quad, building log bridges to cross the creek, playing with the mud kitchen, going up to the dairy to watch the cows be milked, feeling the calves suck on their fingers, tinkering with tools, making imprints in clay with leaves and other natural treasures, and exploring and discovering all manner of exciting things including some cow vertebra some distance apart that fitted together!
My niece caught a trout all on her own - first finding a spot she thought looked good, casting and hooking the fish then reeling it in for a quick photo before releasing it again. Jamieson documented the whole weekend with a non-working but very real camera I picked up for 30c, he LOVED it! The kids coloured in logs, leaves, bones and gumnuts for races down the creek, we had the annual longest kick for goal competition as well as the joke telling competition around the fire of a night time.
They learnt about tending and cooking on the fire and collapsed in an exhausted but satisfied heap at the end of each day. This year was extra special as three bubbas under 18 months came for the first time, and for two it was their first ever camping trips! Special times indeed
