I had a great time in Madison and NE Minneapolis this weekend!!! Thanks again to everyone for your kind words and support. Meeting all of you and seeing people get excited about the jewelry I create makes my heart so full 🧡
Barely saw this Maple Spanworm Moth (Ennomos magnaria) on my way out of the grocery story yesterday evening. I turned to pick up my sons stuffed raccoon and saw what looked like a fall 🍁 maple leaf on the brick, but something looked off about it. I took a closer look and sure enough, it wasn’t a leaf at all—it was a moth! Funny enough, while the adults are perfect leaf mimics, their larvae are twig mimics. If you want to be mildly creeped out, swipe to the second photo to see its creepy little face close up. 😂
A throwback to a trip to #algonquinprovincialpark back in June. We happened to arrive on THE magical day for female snapping turtles to be laying their eggs, and saw 14 turtles within about a 2 km stretch of gravel road, and another dozen or so nests along a sandy bank. Snapping turtles are just so awesome. They're like prehistoric tanks! #naturenerd
Couple of cuties coming off the island, it's not often we see them this small! Live sanddollars are brown/purple/greenish and are covered in short, bristly hairs. Be sure any sanddollars you collect are white like these and leave live ones in the water!
