Dyeing silks with Golden Yarrow: 🌼 - add a handful of fresh Golden Yarrow to the pot 🌼 - cover with rain water 🌼 - simmer on low for an hour 🌼 - let cool then add silks 🌼 - bring up to temperature and simmer on low for another hour. I let my silks cool with the dye bath, then ring them out and hang them to dry BEFORE rinsing them 🌼
Mordant your silks first if you want a more permanent color. I don't think this step is necessary for play silks, because they don't really get washed, but we used silks that I had already pre-mordanted a while back... . . . . . . . . . . . #naturaldyes#plantdye#naturecrafts
A pumpkin flower gently stamped to a canvas bag. I first attempted this with a rubber mallet, but that shredded the flower. Using my fingers to gently press the flower all around, while rubbing a bit on the edges achieved the best result. #naturecrafts
